Plant 1,800 native trees around the Harmony wetland in Gliwice
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Harmony wetland needs $950 for saplings and equipment.
🇵🇱 Gliwice, Silesia, Poland820 views
The Harmony wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 85 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 81 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $950 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $70
• Waste removal and skip hire: $300
• Native saplings and stakes: $580
With deep gratitude,
Zofia

Hope this works out for you. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
Sending strength, Zofia. More neighborhoods should do this. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. God bless
Thanks for sharing this. More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in London but we're thinking of you. God bless.
