Plant 1,700 native trees around the Jacaranda riverbank in Sheffield
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Jacaranda riverbank needs $700 for saplings and equipment.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom746 views
The Jacaranda riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 106 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 181 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $700 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $200
• Signage and educational materials: $120
• Waste removal and skip hire: $380
Thank you so much.

Hope things get better soon. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best
Thinking of you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Mannheim so I could bring a meal
More neighborhoods should do this. I'll check back for the next update
Praying for you, Wyatt. Hope this works out for you. Put this on a community board in Multan this morning. God bless.
Hope things get better soon. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Sheffield.
Hope you get there. Thinking of Sheffield.
