Cape Town

The Pioneer canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 59 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 126 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $650 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $340 • Waste removal and skip hire: $240 • Signage and educational materials: $70 With deep gratitude, Carla

66% there. I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts. Thank you.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($329 in total) I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Wanted to say thank you properly. 45% funded and the plan for native saplings and stakes is now scheduled.
