Plant 1,400 native trees around Unity Beach in Bogotá
Volunteers are restoring Unity Beach in Bogotá; $850 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇨🇴 Colombia1,343 views
Unity Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 36 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 148 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $850 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $420
• Tools and protective gear: $190
• Waste removal and skip hire: $165
• Signage and educational materials: $75
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Wishing you peace, Gabriela. Hope this works out for you. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
