Plant 1,150 native trees around the Baobab hillside in Karlsruhe
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Baobab hillside needs $2,300 for saplings and equipment.

The Baobab hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 57 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 84 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $460
• Waste removal and skip hire: $510
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,330
Thanks for being kind about this.

Sending good thoughts. I hope things turn around soon. Wish I lived closer to Petrópolis so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Karlsruhe.
take care, Rainer. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Sent it to 4 people at work
Wishing you the best, Rainer. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. After 18 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from San Antonio.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Jakarta Barat this morning. All the best.
Thinking of you and your family, Rainer. This could happen to any of us. I have a 16 year old who wants to send good wishes too
