Pioneer Primary School needs a free library and reading room - Parker's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $3,600 for materials.
🇺🇸 Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States1,538 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,600.
It will serve about 347 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,600 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $390
• Safety equipment and signage: $270
• Materials: $2,940
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
