I'm caring for my mother, who's 74. After a stroke last August Phượng can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Phượng desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Phượng worked all of her life as a bus driver, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $370
• Part-time carer (eight months): $2,300
• Medication and prescriptions: $330

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. hospital bed and mattress rental comes first ($370) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.
