Peyton lives with muscular dystrophy. The occupational therapist at the Ottawa Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $6,300. Her current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 12 weeks. With the right equipment Peyton could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $6,300 goes: • prosthetic leg: $5,500 • Fitting and training sessions: $340 • Delivery and set-up: $145 • First-year servicing plan: $315 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
