Perla was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Caloocan General Hospital recommended septoplasty, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,750, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,050 short. my mother has been in and out of Caloocan General Hospital since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Perla struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Perla won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,050 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $430 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $300 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $85 • Post-operative medication: $45 • Physiotherapy sessions: $125 • Travel and lodging for the family: $65 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
