Pepper's severe tick fever: help with the vet bill

Pepper is my tabby kitten of two years. On 22 February we rushed to the Alexandria Emergency Vet Clinic with severe tick fever. The vet recommends orthopedic surgery, and the estimate came to $450. They have stabilized Pepper, but the treatment can't wait beyond May. Pepper is more than a pet - Pepper is a retired therapy animal who has comforted dozens of patients. I have already put $45 toward the bills and asked for a payment plan. Whatever I can't raise, I'll repay to anyone who needs it back.
