Paulo was diagnosed with colon cancer in November. The oncology team at Pelotas Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in February. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Paulo is 53, worked as a taxi driver until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Pelotas Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,500 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $220 • Scans and lab work: $440 • Household costs while unable to work: $530 • Transport to Pelotas Regional Medical Center: $310 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
