Palesa was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in December. The surgeon at George University Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $430, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $300 short. my wife has been in and out of George University Hospital since December. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $430 is more than we can find. While we wait, Palesa struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Palesa won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $300 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $100 • Travel and lodging for the family: $80 • Physiotherapy sessions: $120 Thank you so much. - Pieter
