Palate reconstruction surgery for Quentin: covering what insurance won't

After endometriosis requiring surgery, Quentin was cleared for palate reconstruction surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In July I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $6,750, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $5,300 short. Doctors at Saint Luke Hospital told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. I work as a restaurant cook, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $6,750 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a restaurant cook have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $5,300 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,650 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $2,150 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $520 • Post-operative medication: $230 • Physiotherapy sessions: $410 • Travel and lodging for the family: $340 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
