Palate reconstruction surgery for Marek: covering what insurance won't

In September I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal. My surgeon at London Orthopedic Institute recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $8,250, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $4,950 short.
Doctors at London Orthopedic Institute told me a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. I work as a farm laborer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $8,250 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a farm laborer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,750
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $1,850
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $430
• Post-operative medication: $320
• Physiotherapy sessions: $450
