Palate reconstruction surgery for Jung-hee: covering what insurance won't
After a torn ligament that needs reconstruction, Jung-hee was cleared for palate reconstruction surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Jung-hee was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in May. The surgeon at Saint Elizabeth Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $2,000 short.
my sister has been in and out of Saint Elizabeth Hospital since May. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Jung-hee struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Jung-hee won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $155
• Travel and lodging for the family: $330
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $1,300
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $215
I hope life is good to you.
