Palate reconstruction surgery for Hiba: covering what insurance won't
After an aortic valve defect, Hiba was cleared for palate reconstruction surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Hiba was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in August. The surgeon at Heliopolis University Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,250, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $950 short.
my sister has been in and out of Heliopolis University Hospital since August. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Hiba struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Hiba won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
