Palate reconstruction surgery for Bea: covering what insurance won't
After severe cataracts in both eyes, Bea was cleared for palate reconstruction surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Bea was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in April. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,000, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,000 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since April. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Bea struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Bea won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $500
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $250
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $60
• Post-operative medication: $55
• Physiotherapy sessions: $85
• Travel and lodging for the family: $50
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

keep going, Mark. Hope the doctors have good news. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Take care.
