Nakuru
In August I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. My oncology team at the Nakuru Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 49, I worked as a hairdresser until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Nakuru Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $600 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $350 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $90 • Transport to the Nakuru Oncology Institute: $160 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Updates from Ouma

  1. Update from Nakuru: the plan for nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team is now scheduled. We're at 12% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 20% now ($119). I'm honestly stunned. we've started the first stage.

  3. 12% there. the plan for household costs while unable to work is now scheduled. Thank you.

Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My neighbor in Pune donated after I showed her your page. Love from Pune.

    • Hope things get better soon. Get well soon. After 13 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings
