Badagry
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Sunday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 11 families, and now we feed 137 each week. Donations have dropped by about 32% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 18 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Badagry market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $450 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $190 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $160 • Baby formula and diapers: $80 • Refrigeration and electricity: $20 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • You're not alone. Hope this works out for you. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Ballarat.

    • Your post was clear and honest. After 26 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Munich.

      • Wishing you peace, Aisha. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Take care

        • Praying for you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 24 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best.
