East London
Zinhle is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an agriculture degree at the East London Institute of Technology, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $450. The registrar has said Zinhle can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Zinhle has a 3.6 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Zinhle would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Zinhle isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the East London Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $450 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $55 • Textbooks and materials: $75 • Outstanding tuition balance: $320 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
