Yusuf is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an accounting degree at Istanbul University, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,500.
The registrar has said Yusuf can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Yusuf has a 3.6 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Yusuf would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Yusuf isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Istanbul University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,500 goes:
• Final term tuition: $710
• Outstanding tuition balance: $730
• Textbooks and materials: $60
