Shafiq is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an electrical engineering diploma at the Dhaka Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $650. The registrar has said Shafiq can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Shafiq has a top-ten-percent average, and a professor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Shafiq would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Shafiq isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Dhaka Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $650 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $160 • Exam and lab fees: $10 • Final term tuition: $480 Thanks for reading all this. - Anisur

  • Best of luck, Anisur. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. All the best!
