I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying an accounting degree at Swansea State College, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a shop assistant to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $2,650. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a top-ten-percent average, and my professor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $2,650 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $190 • Textbooks and materials: $125 • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,335 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Thank you. If you're in Swansea I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Happy to explain more.

  • So sorry you're going through this, Scarlett. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Please keep us posted

    • Good luck. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Love from Ikeja.

      • best of luck, Scarlett. Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

        • Best of luck. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected

          • Hang in there, Scarlett. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Swansea
