Satomi is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an electrical engineering diploma at Kitakyushu State College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,150.
The registrar has said Satomi can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Satomi has a top-ten-percent average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Satomi would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Satomi isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Kitakyushu State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,150
• Final term tuition: $1,450
• Exam and lab fees: $240
• Textbooks and materials: $310
