Riaan has worked and saved for three years to study a nursing degree; a $1,150 gap now stands between him and graduation.

Riaan is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a nursing degree at the Soweto Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,150.
The registrar has said Riaan can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Riaan has a distinction average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Riaan would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Riaan isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Final term tuition: $350
• Outstanding tuition balance: $760
• Textbooks and materials: $40
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Best of luck, Emily. I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from Hanoi
