Maya is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a law degree at Eugene Polytechnic, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,100.
The registrar has said Maya can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Maya has a top-ten-percent average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Maya would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Maya isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Eugene Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
