Mathilda is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a master's in public health at the Berlin Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,500. The registrar has said Mathilda can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Mathilda has a top-ten-percent average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Mathilda would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Mathilda isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Berlin Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $3,500 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $95 • Final term tuition: $1,400 • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,005 Thanks for being kind about this. - Heinz

Updates from Heinz

  1. Small update. $340 so far, I met with the university and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Small update. $808 so far, we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

  3. Thank you all. We're at 31% now ($1,093). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward final term tuition.
