Marites is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an agriculture degree at Caloocan Community College, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $850. The registrar has said Marites can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Marites has a 3.9 average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Marites would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
