Lester is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an agriculture degree at Manila Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $400.
The registrar has said Lester can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lester has a first-class average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lester would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Lester isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Manila Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $400 goes:
• Textbooks and materials: $50
• Final term tuition: $320
• Exam and lab fees: $30
Glad we found this place.
