Lâm is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a computer science degree at Da Nang Polytechnic, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $450.
The registrar has said Lâm can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lâm has a 3.6 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lâm would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Lâm isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Da Nang Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $450 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $150
• Final term tuition: $240
• Exam and lab fees: $60
