Janet is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a pharmacy diploma at the Auckland Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,850. The registrar has said Janet can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Janet has a 3.9 average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Janet would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Janet isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Auckland Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $4,850 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,450 • Final term tuition: $2,850 • Exam and lab fees: $270 • Textbooks and materials: $280 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Lincoln
