Howard is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a pharmacy diploma at Syracuse State College, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,550.
The registrar has said Howard can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Howard has a 3.9 average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Howard would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Howard isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Syracuse State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $3,550 goes:
• Final term tuition: $1,350
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,000
• Exam and lab fees: $200
