Fernando is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an accounting degree at the Ciudad de México Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $950. The registrar has said Fernando can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Fernando has a 3.6 average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Fernando would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
