One semester away: help Clara graduate from Oakland Community College
A first-generation student, Clara needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a degree in civil engineering.

I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in civil engineering at Oakland Community College, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a tutor to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $5,250.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.6 average, and my department head has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Oakland Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $5,250 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,950
• Final term tuition: $1,750
• Exam and lab fees: $260
• Textbooks and materials: $290

Keep going, Clara. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Take care.
Best of luck. Looking forward to the next update. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Oakland.
