Asma is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a pharmacy diploma at Riyadh State College, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,650.
The registrar has said Asma can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Asma has a 3.6 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Asma would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Asma isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Textbooks and materials: $190
• Exam and lab fees: $50
• Final term tuition: $1,410
