The flood hit the Sunrise district on 29 April. My home was one of 67 damaged, and 13 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $6,050 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $2,050 • Clean water and purification supplies: $510 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $530 • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,100 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,860 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

      • What's already covered and what's the $6,050 for?

        • Rachel GregoryOwnerAnswer

Sure. The biggest one is roofing sheets and timber, $2,050. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.

      • Rooting for you, Rachel. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Cali.

        • Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Wish I lived closer to Quezon City so I could bring a meal. Love from Bacoor.

          • Stay strong. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
