Nonso was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in June. The surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $940, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $750 short. my son has been in and out of Saint Joseph Hospital since June. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $940 is more than we can find. While we wait, Nonso struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Nonso won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $750 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $70 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $210 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $350 • Physiotherapy sessions: $120 Thanks for reading all this. - Yewande
