For twelve years I have run a small grocery stall in Lagos. In August, a long illness and repossession took a cold-storage unit. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $300 goes: • Shop repairs and licensing: $30 • Working capital for the first month: $55 • Replacing a cold-storage unit: $215 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Nonso

Updates from Nonso

  1. Update from Lagos: I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month. We're at 59% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($196 in total) the plan for working capital for the first month is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Nonso

  3. Quick update: $151 raised so far (50%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
