Nkechi is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a law degree at the Abuja Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $400.
The registrar has said Nkechi can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Nkechi has a 3.8 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Nkechi would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Nkechi isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $400 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $320
• Exam and lab fees: $30
• Textbooks and materials: $50
Every share and every dollar helps.
