Nkechi's a rare sarcoma treatment fund
Nkechi is facing a rare sarcoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Nigeria616 views
Nkechi was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in April. The oncology team at the Badagry Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Nkechi is 32, worked as a construction supervisor until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Badagry Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $880
• Scans and lab work: $185
• Transport to the Badagry Oncology Institute: $65
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $60
• Household costs while unable to work: $210
