Mukono
Neema was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Mukono Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $900 short. my mother has been in and out of Mukono Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find. While we wait, Neema struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Neema won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $900 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $260 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $420 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $40 • Post-operative medication: $60 • Physiotherapy sessions: $65 • Travel and lodging for the family: $55 If you're reading this, thank you.
