Nakato's gallbladder removal can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled gallbladder removal in August is out of reach without help covering $200 of the cost.

Nakato was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in April. The surgeon at Dar es Salaam General Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $290, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $200 short.
my mother has been in and out of Dar es Salaam General Hospital since April. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $290 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Nakato struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Nakato won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $200 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $75
• Physiotherapy sessions: $95

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Nakato?
Thank you. If you're in Dar es Salaam I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Happy to explain more.
Stay strong. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Cali
Praying for you. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Dar es Salaam
You're not alone. Looking forward to the next update. I hope August is when things finally get easier
Best of luck, Okello. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Dar es Salaam.
