Nahom needs a communication tablet with eye tracking - help us make it happen
A communication tablet with eye tracking would give Nahom independence - we're $1,000 away.
🇪🇹 Gondar, Amhara, Ethiopia1,575 views
Nahom lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Gondar Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a communication tablet with eye tracking. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,000.
His current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment Nahom could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $20
• Delivery and set-up: $25
• communication tablet with eye tracking: $955

How is Nahom doing now?
Hope the doctors have good news. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Gondar
Good luck, Kidist. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Gondar.
Hope it all works out, Kidist. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust.
