I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a pharmacy diploma at Mbale State College, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a shop assistant to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $450. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a distinction average, and my professor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $450 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $210 • Final term tuition: $195 • Exam and lab fees: $20 • Textbooks and materials: $25 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Nafula

  • Rooting for you, Nafula. Looking forward to the next update. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Mbale.

    • Your post was clear and honest. Greetings from Riverside.

      • Take care, Nafula. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Sent it to 16 people at work. Take care.

        • As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Wish I lived closer to Sherbrooke so I could bring a meal.

          • Hope things get better soon, Nafula. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. After 21 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
