Naana was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in July. The oncology team at the Accra Oncology Institute has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Naana is 51, worked as a bus conductor until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Accra Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,300 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $980 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120 • Scans and lab work: $200 Thank you for reading my story. - Sandra

  • Hope it all works out, Sandra. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
