Na-young was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in July. The surgeon at Seoul Community Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,600, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $950 short.
my sister has been in and out of Seoul Community Hospital since July. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,600 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Na-young struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Na-young won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
