My school-run minibus: Willem's only way to earn a living

Without my school-run minibus Willem can't work; a $300 repair would put him back on the road.

I make my living with my school-run minibus. 12 weeks ago the transmission failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $300. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my 2 children. Before the breakdown I worked twelve hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next four months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal. Where the $300 goes: • transmission replacement (parts): $120 • Labor charges: $90 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $50 • Towing and inspection: $40 Thank you so much. - Willem

Updates from Willem

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($88 in total) we've started the first stage. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Update from Johannesburg: I met with the mechanic and confirmed the amounts. We're at 21% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 17% funded and I made the first payment toward road tax and insurance renewal.
