My ride-share car: Felipe's only way to earn a living
Felipe's my ride-share car is Felipe's only source of income and needs a gearbox replacement costing $350.

I make my living with my ride-share car. 10 weeks ago the gearbox failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $350. Without the vehicle I earn nothing.
I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask.
I support my family of five. Before the breakdown I worked ten hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working.
I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here.
All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal.
Where the $350 goes:
• Labor charges: $35
• Towing and inspection: $40
• gearbox replacement (parts): $275

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Felipe.
Labor charges is $35 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for looking so closely.
You're not alone, Felipe. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Chennai.
Best of luck, Felipe. This could happen to any of us. God bless
Praying for you. Your post was clear and honest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it!
rooting for you, Felipe. Hope you get there. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you
How is Felipe doing now?
stay strong, Felipe. Your post was clear and honest. Wish I lived closer to Bogotá so I could bring a meal
hope it all works out, Felipe. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
Wishing you the best, Felipe. Hope you make a strong comeback. After 27 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best.
Hope things get better soon, Felipe. This could happen to any of us. Blessings
Hang in there, Felipe. Hope you get there.
