My pickup: Laxmi's only way to earn a living
Laxmi drives for a living in Kathmandu, and a broken gearbox has stopped all income for 4 weeks.
🇳🇵 Kathmandu, Bagmati, Nepal1,021 views
I make my living with my pickup. 4 weeks ago the gearbox failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $250. Without the vehicle I earn nothing.
I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask.
I support my family of five. Before the breakdown I worked eleven hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working.
I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here.
All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal.
Where the $250 goes:
• gearbox replacement (parts): $140
• Labor charges: $40
• Road tax and insurance renewal: $30
• Towing and inspection: $40
Thanks for reading all this.

Shared it with a few friends. After 28 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
is there anything that isn't money that would help Laxmi?
Thinking of you and your family, Laxmi. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'll check back for the next update. Greetings from Galway
It takes guts to ask. Well done. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Love from Gujranwala.
Hope you make a strong comeback. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
You're not alone, Laxmi. Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Onitsha so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Kathmandu
Wishing you the best, Laxmi. Hope this works out for you. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from London.
Thinking of you. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. Sent it to 11 people at work. God bless
