Mutua's final semester of a degree in social work in Embakasi
Mutua has worked and saved for three years to study a degree in social work; a $600 gap now stands between him and graduation.
🇰🇪 Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya412 views
Mutua is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a degree in social work at Embakasi Community College, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $600.
The registrar has said Mutua can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Mutua has a 3.9 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Mutua would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Mutua isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Embakasi Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $600 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $25
• Textbooks and materials: $60
• Final term tuition: $515
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Sending love, Juma. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Love from Half-Way Tree.
Sending strength, Juma. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. My neighbor in Ciudad de México donated after I showed her your page
Sending love. I hope things turn around soon. My husband and I read this together. All the best
Good luck, Juma. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Los Angeles so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Rohini.
As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. After 27 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
thanks for sharing this, Juma. Looking forward to the next update
